The core purpose of journalism is to inform, educate and enlighten the masses on various issues revolving them. As the new world has time and again, verified the saying that the pen and the camera is mightier than the sword, numerous opportunities for journalists have been generated all around the globe.

Today straightforward reporting of events is no more adequate, more specialization and professionalism in journalistic practices is being required. Therefore today, an aspiring journalist specialises in diverse areas, such as politics, finance, travel, sports, entertainment, crime, fashion&lifestyle, investigation, economics etc.

About the Course

The course provides an in-depth understanding of the World-wide Media. The module is coupled with insights from industry professionals, practical learning and improving media literacy. The course structure is curated and geared towards creating professionals for the Indian Media and Entertainment industry.

Special features

There are numerous varieties of journalism specialization available, we are offering a broad overview of the field and others with a specialized focus from the start.

The two most common pathways are print and online journalism and broadcast journalism. Based on your choice, the course will focus on different roles and functions within journalism, as well as allowing you to develop the professional skills needed for a journalism career.

Generally, if you study journalism you will learn about how to work in a newsroom; how to find sources and how to present information to the public, using various media and focusing on different topics and target audiences for both print and online journalism. Often you’ll have opportunities to complete work experience and lots of practical project work.

Practical and holistic training in all different fields of Journalism.

Students Learn to-

  • Identify the stylistic differences between print, broadcast, sports, and online journalism, and the full-time positions available in each.
  • Develop proper grammar and word usage skills that adhere to Associated Press style.
  • Acquire fundamental reporter skills including developing sources, preparing interviews, and conducting online research.
  • Create a news writing portfolio.

The details of the BBA admission process are as follows: Application for participation in the BBA admission process 2020 is available online. Eligible candidates desiring BBA admission are required to apply online (www.indiraiimp.edu.in) for appearing for selection process which will be conducted online. BBA admission will be granted to candidates based on the merit list. Candidates merit list will be prepared by taking into consideration their marks secured in 10th and 12th and performance in the personal interview conducted by IIMP. The distribution of weightage for different components will be as under

Eligibility

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Degree course in Bachelor of Business Administration – shall have passed 12th Std. Examination (H.S.C. 10 +2) from any stream with English as passing subject and has secured at least 40% marks at 12th Std.

OR

Three Years Diploma Course after S.S.C. i.e. 10th Standard of Board of Technical Education conducted by Government of Maharashtra or its equivalent.

OR

Two Years Diploma in Pharmacy after H.S.C., of Board of Technical Education conducted by Government of Maharashtra or its equivalent.

Print Media

  • Reporter:As a reporter of a newspaper, magazine, news agency, radio or television channel, your job will be to report with speed, clarity and accuracy. The intellect to distinguish a story and objectivity will be very important in this role.
  • Correspondent/Special Reporter: To be a reporter for a particular purpose, you must have thorough knowledge in a particular field like politics and sports etc. You must also have the ability to read between the lines and explain the news on the basis of your understanding.
  • Feature Writer:A feature writer’s job revolves around writing in-depth stories and observations on specific topics.
  • Leader Writer:They are concerned with putting across their views on news topics through editorial columns only.
  • Proof Reader:Proof Reader’s job is to evaluate and compare proofs with the edited copy. For this job one must possess skills in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Editor:Editor is the key head whose chief responsibility is to ensure uniformity and continuity of the print media. He/she presents the newspaper in an eye-catching fashion.
  • Columnist:As a columnist, one writes for a particular segment in the newspaper or magazine. Your column would highlight your viewpoint concerning any topic under the sun like fashion, politics or films and the like.
  • Critic:In order to be a critic, you will have to be well-read and experienced. Irrespective of the field one must have comprehensive knowledge in the subject concerned.
  • Photo Journalist:To become a successful Photojournalists or in simple words, visual reporter one must be swift in taking pictures which represent a news-story and be willing to work in difficult conditions. Furthermore, He/ she should have the skills of writing appropriate captions and knowledge of the technical aspects of photography.
  • Cartoonist:you have to artistic and humorous to get recognition as a cartoonist. A cartoonist comments on public personalities and other happenings in a satirical manner.

Electronic Media

  • Researchers: Researchers' jobs revolve around doing the research work for the channel or the site. To be a researcher, you must be creative and inquisitive.
  • Broadcast Reporters: a broadcast reporter must have good communication and presentation skills coupled with a nose for news.
  • Presenters:Good communication skills, command over speech, diction and language, general knowledge, intelligence and the ability to be composed in stressful conditions are essence for this job. Additionally, presenter must also have a control over words and a good quality of face expression to convey the right tone of the news.

The Internet as a global electronic community, interconnecting millions of people is fast emerging as an influential medium to change viewpoints. It has many USPs over other media forms of journalism.

It provides updated news content at no cost. The web journalist has to make the news sharp and interesting. Here, editing and presentation of the news is the most important activity since many web surfers tend to scan the pages and not read them entirely.

Further, eye-catching captions and key facts are necessary. Hence in order to become a web journalist one must be capable of writing precisely and concisely.

The hostel is nothing but "a home away from home for the girls” & is also safeguarded by the warden & security guards round the clock. The Institute has a Cafeteria, which is uniquely designed and located in the main campus. Cleanliness and hygiene are given immense importance here. Classroom and Seminar Rooms

The classrooms have been equipped with facilities to conduct virtual class room sessions to ensure compliance with social distance and safety precautions The college has a 300 seater air-conditioned auditorium located in the main campus to facilitate seminars and sessions by industry speakers. This auditorium is also used by students for various activities like talent fest, traditional day, and induction session with new students. There are basketball, volleyball courts, gymnasium and infrastructure for other sports. It helps in distressing and maintaining physical and mental wellness.

Library

The Library of the Institute has an excellent collection of reference, textbooks and encyclopedias related to the field of Management. Library has subscribed to all popular business news papers and magazines of India. The library is regularly updated by periodicals and journals. In addition to curriculum-related books, our library is also well stocked with books on general reading, self-help and motivational literature. Students will have full access to the library after their BBA admission and issue of smart cards by the institute.

IT Infrastructure

The IT Infrastructure also covers the latest licensed software for designing, editing and simulation of projects, statistical analysis and project presentation. Security (physical & data access) within the campus is administered via surveillance cameras and data access policies implemented via various servers using Microsoft Technology.

IIMP has dedicated computers labs with broad band connectivity to help students complete different task and presentation assigned to them. IGI has got the office365 communication platform for communication between students and faculty members. Students are assigned individual email-ids for their individual communication with the fellow students and faculty. Besides, IIMP has rolled our comprehensive ERP system which takes care of the entire student’s academics, examination and allied activities management during their stay at Indira.
